Gradall Forklift Parts - Through the period when WWII caused a shortage of laborers, the well-known Gradall excavator was established in the 1940s as the idea of two brothers Ray and Koop Ferwerda. The brothers faced the problems of a depleted workforce because of the war. As partners in their Cleveland, Ohio construction company known as Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda they lacked the available workers to be able to do the delicate work of finishing and grading on their freeway projects. The Ferwerda brothers opted to build a machine which will save their company by making the slope grading task easier, more efficient and less manual.
Their first design model was a device with two beams set on a rotating platform that was attached atop a second-hand truck. A telescopic cylinder moved the beams back and forth that allowed the fixed blade at the end of the beams to pull or push dirt. Shortly improving the initial design, the brothers made a triangular boom to add more strength. What's more, they added a tilt cylinder that let the boom rotate 45 degrees in either direction. A cylinder was placed at the back of the boom, powering a long push rod to allow the machine to be equipped with either a bucket or a blade attachment.
Gradall introduced in the year 1992, with the introduction of the new XL Series hydraulics, the most ground-breaking adjustment in their machinery ever since their invention. This new system of top-of-the-line hydraulics enabled the Gradall excavator to provide high productivity and comparable power to the more conventional excavators. The XL Series put an end to the first Gradall equipment power drawn from gear pumps and low pressure hydraulics. These traditional systems effectively handled finishing work and grading but had a hard time competing for high productivity jobs.
The new XL Series Gradall excavators proved a remarkable increase in their digging and lifting ability. These models were made together with a piston pump, high-pressure hydraulics system that showed great improvements in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was likewise developed along with a load-sensing capability. Traditional excavators make use of an operator to choose a working-mode; where the Gradall system could automatically adjust the hydraulic power intended for the job at hand. This makes the operator's whole work easier and even conserves fuel at the same time.
Once their XL Series hydraulics came onto the market, Gradall was basically thrust into the highly competitive market of machinery meant to deal with excavation, demolition, pavement removal and different industrial tasks. Marketability was further enhanced with their telescoping boom due to its exclusive ability to better position attachments and to work in low overhead areas.
